WEEK 6 Summary (Fashion Studies)

In week 6, we learned that there are 7 different fashion processes before producing a collection. I found them really interesting and I'm also excited to get into more projects in the future which allows us to experience more of the fashion industry.

Fashion Process

The fashion design process can be defined to conceive the idea into a form. It will involve materials, machines, other people (model) and it takes a lot of process and steps in order to produce a collection.

Step 1- Trend Research

-Analyzing market trend, Trend forecasting, Research forecast

Step 2- Conceptualize Idea

-Process of Brainstorm, Finding Inspiration for colour, trims, fabric, texture

Step 3- Innovate

-Sketch, Draping, Pattern Making 

Step 4- Material Sourcing

-Fabric, Trims & Embellishments, Accessories 

Step 5- Selection

-Opting for the appropriate trims that will complement the body fabric along with the cost involved will help the decision-making process

Step 6- Range Planning

-Total numbers of the garment, Proportion of different garment type, Technical pack, Manufacturer details 

Step 7- Final Detailing

-Determining the details like decorative, functional or hidden that enhance the piece

-Include stitching, embellishment, customized fastening, delicate print, etc
